Donald Trump: Education Should be Local

Recently, presidential candidate Donald Trump sat down with Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace to talk about his stance on the debt limit, foreign policy, and Federal spending. When asked about Common Core, here is what he said:

Wallace: Would you cut services? Would you cut departments?

TRUMP: I’m not cutting services, but I’m cutting spending. I may cut the Department of Education. I believe Common Core is a very bad thing. I believe that we should be — you know — educating our children from Iowa, from New Hampshire, from South Carolina, from California, from New York. I think that it should be local education.

If you look at a Jeb Bush and some of these others, they want them to be educated by Washington, DC bureaucrats… so the Department of Education is one.

You can find HSLDA’s full write-up on Donald Trump’s position on the Common Core here.

Trump wasn’t the only candidate speaking about localized education with the media.
